Citi AAdvantage Executive: annual fee climbs to $695, new credits arrive August 23
The Citi AAdvantage Executive's annual fee rises $100 to $695 on 23 August 2026. New AA Vacations and inflight credits, a bigger Lyft credit, and two new Loyalty Point tiers are the offset.
American Airlines' premium cobrand joins the fee-hike wave. From 23 August 2026, the Citi AAdvantage Executive costs $100 more, and Citi is stacking credits on top to justify it.
What changed
| Today | From 23 Aug 2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Annual price | $595 | $695 |
| AA Vacations credit | none | up to $250, twice a year |
| Inflight + Admirals Club purchases | none | up to $100 back per year |
| Lyft credit | $10/month after 3 rides | $15/month after 3 rides |
| Hotel and car bookings via AA portals | 10x miles | 12x miles |
| Loyalty Point bonus tiers | 50k, 90k | 50k, 90k, 165k, 240k |
Authorized-user pricing is unchanged. Each of the two new Loyalty Point tiers pays 10,000 bonus Loyalty Points, taking the maximum from tier bonuses to 40,000 a year, double what the card offered before.
Beyond the table: Omni Hotels Champion status plus one free night a year after a qualifying paid stay of two or more nights, complimentary Avis President's Club status (enrollment open through 31 August 2028), and an upgrade from World Elite to Mastercard's new World Legend tier.
The honest math
On paper the additions outrun the increase: $500 of AA Vacations credits, $100 inflight, and $60 more in Lyft credits against a $100 bump. In practice the AA Vacations credit requires booking packages with two or more travel components, in two separate half-year windows, and the inflight credit assumes you buy things on American Airlines planes or in Admirals Clubs. This is coupon-book economics: the credits are worth their face value only if they map to spending you already do.
Who's hit
Heavy American Airlines flyers who hold the card for Admirals Club membership will mostly shrug; the membership alone can justify the price. Holders who kept it marginally, for the checked bag and occasional lounge visit, now have a genuinely harder case.
What to do
Price the card like an accountant, not a fan: count only the credits you would have spent anyway. If the math turns negative, Polo Match can show whether a transferable-points setup beats the cobrand for your actual travel pattern, and the points calculator will put a number on it.
